On the UK KIa forum thare has been much mention of the fuel consupmtion of the Ceed 1.6 CRDi car - which I thought had the same power train as the current i30 1.6 CRDi. However they talk about DPF regeneration and its effect on overall fuel economy. Quote from KIA forum
If a diesel car makes too many short journeys without the DPF reaching operating temperature, the filter can become blocked, and this can cause running problems. 2020 Kia Ceed 1.6 CRDi 48v iMT

You need to go on a long run of more than 25 minutes with the engine revs above 2000 rpm. if this doesn't work, the dealer will have to do a forced regeneration. A diesel car is unsuitable if you only do short journeys, the DPF on my previous cars needed to regenerate approx.every 250 miles and it took a continuous 20 minutes or at least 15
All this is of course a normal regeneration cycle as you drive not a emergency regeneration that is accompanied with the dash board light. But as you said this may only be on this specific engine and gear box combination My car is the 1.7 crdi 2015 engine d4fd with manual 6 speed box
What we would do in that situation is take the DPF off and send it to DPF Clean Team in Hinckley who are brilliant. When you have it back on, you still have to do a forced regen to finish the process and we also insist on fitting and calibrating a new genuine VW DPF pressure sensor.
The UK 1.6 U2 Diesel does not have a DPF. If it did it would be under the car in the area of the front seats. The UK cee'd has, (from the turbo), catalytic converter, (vertical iron cylinder behind the engine), flexible coupling, exhaust pipe to the silencer under the right rear seat, then pipe to the rear of the car.
